Questions about paying
How does billing work?
Payments go through Stripe. You'll see the total you pay before you pay, and Kova never sees or stores your card number. There are no setup fees and no trial that quietly turns into a charge.
What happens when I hit a limit on Free?
Kova tells you which limit you reached and when it resets, in your own time. Lectures and quizzes reset at the start of each month, and AI messages each day. Chat, section explanations and making cards all use those daily messages. Retaking the questions you missed in a quiz doesn't use one of your quizzes (up to 3 retakes of each). On very busy days, Free AI requests can pause for everyone until midnight UTC; Pro isn't affected. Flashcard review always works, so you can keep studying everything you already have.
What do I get before I confirm my email?
Enough to try everything: 10 chat messages in total, 2 lectures, 1 quiz and 1 syllabus import. Confirming your email unlocks the full Free plan. Accounts created with Google are confirmed from the start.
What happens if Pro ends?
You move back to Free and keep everything you made: courses, study guides, flashcards and review history. New lectures, quizzes, courses and chat then follow Free's limits.
Is there a fair-use limit?
Yes: every plan has a monthly AI allowance, and on Pro, chat moves from the stronger models to the fast ones as you use it. The allowance is sized to what you pay (Free has a smaller one), and chat, lectures, quizzes and their marking, and making cards all use it. On Pro, chat uses the smart models until 60% of it is used, then the fast ones, which cost far less. If chat were all you used it for, that's about 35 smart-model messages a month, then about 480 more on the fast models. Long chats, big uploads and lots of quizzes use it faster. On a yearly plan or the semester pass it builds up a month at a time, and whatever you don't use carries forward. If you reach it, new AI requests pause until your next billing month starts, or the start of the next month on Free. Flashcard review and everything you've already made keep working, and Plan & usage shows how much you've used.
Which AI models does Kova use?
Study guides, flashcards and quizzes are written by the same model on every plan. In chat, Free uses fast models: GPT-6 Luna, Gemini 2.5 Flash, Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite and GPT-OSS 120B. Pro adds Claude Sonnet 5, GPT-4.1, Gemini 3.6 Flash and Claude Haiku 4.5 for stronger explanations, for about 35 messages a month before chat goes back to the fast models.
